TIPS + TRENDS [FOR 2015]

TIPS + TRENDS [FOR 2015]
January 28th, 2015

Hello all! With the new year off in full force we wanted to share with you some of our favorite trends + tips that you can count on seeing in our upcoming projects, and incorporate into you're own home.

[#1] WALLPAPER, WALLPAPER, WALLPAPER!

Out are the days of painted accent walls; wallpaper can add elegance, playful spunk, or drama to ANY room.

The bathroom is the perfect place to try out bold colors or patterns! [#2] OVERSIZED EVERYTHING

Wanting to add drama or create a focal point in your home? Having oversized accessories, artwork, even kitchen hoods adds instant visual interest to a room.

[#3] NO MORE MATCHING

Matching everything in a room is a trend of the past. Mix & match furniture styles, fabrics, textures, materials & prints to create your own unique look. Don't be afraid to mix  woods, metals, acrylics, and other materials & finishes together in a room -- remember there are no rules when it comes to design!

Neutral living room with wooden beam ceiling and lucite coffee tableBold stripes

[#4] ACCESSORIES

A space is not truly complete without accessories. Accessorizing your space brings personality to the room & helps make a "house" feel more like a "home."

Gold + black. Yes + yes. Bright, Bold, and Beautiful coffee table styling idea! Books and flowers = a coffee table dream!

 [#5] COLOR & PATTERN

Saying we love color & pattern is an understatement. Color is what captures the true essences of somebody; you can tell a lot about somebody by the colors they portray in their home. Don't be afraid to select multiple colors & patterns for a room!

BEFORE + AFTER [OUR STUDIO]

 BEFORE + AFTER [OUR STUDIO]
January 21th, 2015

As we were doing our end of the year cleaning here at the studio we found this picture of our space from 2008 - I have to say it still looks pretty good! Seven years later and we have made some changes, but others remain the same...

A couple months ago we decided to freshen the space up by getting new wallpaper. We chose this fabulous Brunschwig & Fils paper that we absolutely adore!

Can you tell we love color?

Fortuny, Clarence House, & Andrew Martin - just a few of our favorite things on display!

And of course an abundance of vibrant pillows & cute animal mounts - how adorable is this little guy from Zachary?

Quite possibly our most beloved items in the space would be the artwork. This Native American painting is from one of Katie's favorite artists, along with a gorgeous floral painting done by Robert Sidenberg.

When it comes to design, things are ever-changing. But by selecting classic, smart, and meaningful pieces you can create a timeless & inspiring space for many years to come!

BEFORE + AFTER [LONG LAKE]

 BEFORE + AFTER  [LONG LAKE]
January 8th, 2015

Greetings all! 2015 is upon us and one thing we wanted to achieve this year was blogging (which has until now been a very scary word here in the office!) So we thought we would knock it off our list of things to learn this year and jump on in. We will be posting lots of fun pictures and insight into our day to day activities as projects progress, as well as trends, tips, trips and more!

Here is a before shot of the project - such a great open floor plan that just needed a little update.

And the after!

Another shot of the previous furniture..

What a transformation bold, colorful fabrics can make!

Wallpaper, wallpaper wallpaper! We love how this gorgeous grass cloth paper in the dining room and zippy geometric paper in the entry turned out.

So maybe blogging isn't as scary as we thought it would be! Stay tuned to see more project updates, trends, and more!
