NEW + PRODUCTS [CHRISTIAN LACROIX]

NEW + PRODUCTS [CHRISTIAN LACROIX]
February 25th, 2015

Last week we went to one of our favorite showrooms here at IMS Scherping Westphal, to view the new Christian Lacroix wallpaper and fabric lines! Of course we fell in love with all of the new bold and eccentric pieces from CL, how could you not? The samples we ordered from the showing just arrived and we are ecstatic to share with you a couple of our favorite bright and colorful papers that have us dreaming of spring!

The first wallpaper sample we just had to have was this Canopy paper. The colors are so fantastic in this wallpaper - what's not to love! It comes in a variety of colors including fushia  & gold. And to top that off, it comes in a matching fabric!

This next wild paper is called Pantigre and also comes in a matching fabric. This zebra/leopard combo comes in 6 color ways and is sure to please any animal print lover!

A personal favorite of mine from the showing was this Agua Parati wallpaper! This pen sketching of fruit is simply gorgeous. It comes in 6 color ways including our favorites white, orange, and pink!

A great little patterned paper that we fell in love with next is the Barbade. This basket weave wallpaper is such a smart pattern that looks stunning in all colors!

Last, but certainly not least is this Mariposa bug paper. I'll be the first to admit I'm usually not a bug/insect person, but this paper is too adorable not to love! The wallpaper comes in 6 different colors including zinc and my personal favorite pink!

Do these wallpapers/fabrics have you excited for the upcoming spring (bug) season?

TIPS + TRENDS [SHOWER TILE]

TIPS + TRENDS [SHOWER TILE]
February 18th, 2015

With the trend of shower sizes still increasing, its no surprise shower tiles are of great importance in bathrooms. When it comes to selecting tiles for a shower, there are an abundance of looks & styles to be inspired by. Take a look at a couple of our favorite tile trends..

[#1] SUBTLE PATTERN

Whether its natural stone or porcelain tile, small scaled shower tile patterns are always a great option. The scale of the tile design creates a subtle pattern in the space, without being overbearing. Some of our favorite tile patterns being used a lot in shower applications are herringbone, chevron, quatrefoil, & hexagon tiles - just to name a few!

[#2] FLOOR TILES

Using floor tiles on shower walls is a very popular trend we are currently using in a couple projects. Whether staggered or stacked, this sleek tile application will add sophistication to any bath! Side note: we are doing a vertical staggered floor tile shower wall application in a current project - stay tuned for the results!

[#3] PICTURE FRAME

An accent feature in showers that we are seeing increasing in popularity is the "picture frame." Creating a square/rectangular focal point on a shower wall with accent tiles creates an illusion of artwork in the shower, adding visual interest to the area. Such a great touch!

[#4] WATERFALL

Another decorative tile application gaining popularity in showers is the "waterfall." This consist of a vertical application of a contrasting tile on any of the walls. This is predominately used where the showerhead, controls, or niches are located to bring emphasis to the area. It's such a great way to add an accent tile to your shower without doing the traditional "horizontal tile border."

[#5] CLASSIC SUBWAY

Last but certainly not least, subway tiles. The classic subway tile is always a great option because of its versatility. The look and feel of subway tiles can drastically change according to the pattern that is applied.

Which of these tile trends are you itching to try in your next bathroom remodel?

TIPS + TRENDS [BLACK WINDOW SASHES]

TIPS + TRENDS [BLACK WINDOW SASHES]
February 11th, 2015

What would normally be recognized as a more industrial/commercial look, black window sashes are increasing in popularity in residential homes. There's no doubt these black window sashes look smashing against contrasting white painted woodwork & create added visual interest to a space!

How lovely are these interiors? This trending style is not only for modern homes, it can blend beautifully into traditional interiors as well!

Black sashes are not only for interior windows , they can be seen throughout a home in unexpected areas like glass shower walls in bathrooms or walls of windows leading into a bedroom. The options are endless!

Sometimes it's those small details, like window sash colors, that you don't think about when building or remodeling a home that can make a huge difference.

Which look do you prefer? White window sashes that blend in or bold black sashes that make an extra statement in your home?

TIPS + TRENDS [GUILFORD GREEN]

TIPS + TRENDS [GUILFORD GREEN]
February 4th, 2015

Benjamin Moore recently announced their 2015 Color of the Year, Guilford Green. Here at the office we were pretty excited to hear this news since we are using this color in a current project of ours!

This silvery green color is such a soft neutral that it can be paired with almost anything.

We love the airiness of this hue which makes it such a versatile color; it's a great wall AND ceiling paint color!

If you're not quite ready to completely revamp your home with Guilford Green paint; accessories & greens can be a great way to incorporate the color into any room.

This color has me dreaming of spring already!

Stay tuned to see the results of our "Guilford Green" project!
